Hi all,
'91 325i with just under 30,000mi
When I drive over road imperfections such as shallow potholes and raised bits of asphalt, the passenger side of my suspension makes a horrendous chatter. Its a precise and quick rattling noise, like very muffled metal-on-metal contact. At first, I thought it was the lower control arms, but the car is very stable and handles great otherwise - no shimmy on braking, no steering noises, etc. (I think those symptoms point to bas LCA's? lol)
Shake test was inconclusive, everything is tight and seems solid.
From my experience with suspension noises, it sounds like the sway bar is walking, perhaps the bar bushings are worn out?
I'm pretty new to the e30, hopefully you all have experienced and solved a similar issue. Just trying to get ahead of the replace & pray game...
