    2002 E39 530i - No Longer Available

    2002 E39 530i *****SOLD*****

Up for sale is my 2002 BMW 530i in Sterling Grey Metallic over black leather. I'm the third owner of this car and have owned it since 2010. This is far and away the best car I've ever owned, though I have a newer one picked out so it's time for this one to go to a new home.

This car is loaded. OEM equipment includes the Sports Package, Premium Package, Cold Weather package, Smoker's Package, integrated Homelink remote control, shadowline trim, rain sensing wipers, auto-leveling Xenon headlights, automatic climate control, vavona wood trim, M Sport suspension and M Sport steering wheel.

Mechanically the car is near perfect - easily a 9/10. All preventive maintenance has been done on schedule, and the oil has been changed regularly every 5000 miles. The ABS module has been refurbished (to eliminate the "ABS trifecta" issue which plagues just about every E39 in existence). The most recent service includes a new thermostat and housing, new water pump, fresh BMW blue coolant, new valve cover gasket, new spark plugs, and new oil filter housing gasket, and fresh oil with a new filter. It also received new brake pads, new brake rotors and new tires at all four corners last year.

Cosmetically it's 7/10. The timeless design of the E39 shows well from 20 feet, though she's fifteen years old so there are some bumps, bruises and scrapes typical of a car her age. The Style 42 wheels are in similar shape cosmetically; they show well from a distance, though up close you can see places where water has seeped under the clear coat and left spots -- again a common issue. It has Tennessee-legal 35% 3M tint on the rear window and all four of the side windows.

Most of the interior belies the car's age -- it's an 8/10. The felt is beginning to separate from the A- and C-pillars, as well as above the sun visors. However there are zero dead pixels anywhere on the ("high") cluster or on the MID, and all onboard functions work like new. The seats are exceptionally comfortable and show very little wear.

This is a fantastic commuter/traveling car. It averages 28 miles per gallon on the highway and can go over 500 miles on a single tank of fuel. We travel to Florida a couple of times every year, and can easily make it to the Gulf Coast without stopping (at least the car can...). I wouldn't hesitate to hop in and drive it anywhere in the country.

She's aged pretty gracefully, though there are a handful of minor issues I'll note, again which are typical for her age: the washer fluid reservoir has a leak, so a low fluid warning stays on most of the time (I bought it this way); the tilt function on the sunroof no longer functions, though the slider function works as it should; the (right, I believe) rear wheel bearing is starting to make a little noise, so it should be changed in the next few months.

Contact me with your name, telephone number and any preferred contact times. I'll be happy to give you a call and answer any questions you may have. Clean title in hand; cash or cashier's check only. Panjo payments are not accepted.

    Thanks for looking.

Nice car! Love the wheels. Should be an easy sell.

Thanks! It's on Craigslist locally so I copied that ad. I added the mileage, plus a few more details I left out.

E39 = best 5 series, while BMW was at its peak. And 6 cyl avoids the headaches of the 540!

I just re-conditioned mine and they make great driving cars - though wish mine had rain-sensing wipers and better mpg

And has a better steering rack! The I6 has rack & pinion steering; V8 cars have recirculating ball.

I owned virtually the same car only an 01 (for which I paid 10x as much) and these are simply an awesome DD. If I didn't have my A6 to cruise the Autobahn with this would be a contender.

              Someone buy it already

This car is exactly what I'm looking for when I finish the 325i. GLWS and great price, I hope it won't last long.

That is one of the nagging issues of considering the picking up of a M5 before they get all collector status appreciated. A LSX-swapped one with I6 steering rack fixed that though.

Congrats on the sale - hope they enjoy it.
