    Wiper motor problem

My windshield wiper is going the wrong way.... onto the hood hahahah, I'm just curious what could cause this, I haven't touched the wiper motor, I only took the wiper arm off to spray paint the arms. I put the wipers on and maybe they were too tight I don't crank them down or anything, but the wiper now parks in the up position. So now my bmw e30 looks like a jeep. Local automotive shop says it could be electrical, but I don't know anything about wiper motors. Any help is appreciated!:(

Can you simply take the wiper arms off (from being parked up) and then reseat them in their normal spot?

I don't think you are getting what he's saying.. the arms are splined.. you put the arms back on wrong and now your wipers are backwards.. take the arms off then click your wipers.. once the motors have stopped and come to there final resting position put the arms back on how they would normally seat (at bottom of windshield)

I have them put on correctly, its not the putting on the wiper part that's messed up, you can see the motor arms moving in the opposite direction.

Can you post a video? I'm extremely skeptical that this coincidentally happened right after you took the arms off and that it's an electrical problem but would like to see proof

I see what you did there. When you had the wiper arms off, you must had touch the switch and you turn off the car before the arms return to the starting position. So now you installed the arms where you though it was suppose to be, but really you had it in the wrong position.

Did you unplug the motor at all... If it is just blade connectors then you may have them backwards.. when a brushed motors ploarity is reversed the motor spins the opposite direction.. just a thought
