    Please help identify these random plugs and wires

    Hello fellow E30 owners. I’m new to RV3 so I hope I am posting this in the right area, I apologize if I am not. I recently purchased an 86 325e. I am trying to return it, to its former glory at the moment. I need some help identifying a few wires and plugs I have found in the engine bay, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    1. Looks like a coolant sensor of some sort, comes out of the harness near the washer fluid tank. Wire colors are 1 brown, 1 blue with light blue spots.

    2. Orange 2 pin plug near driver’s side head light. Wire colors are 1 brown, and 1 purple

    3. Single pin connector with very short lead, come out of the harness near the wash fluid tank. Wire colors are 1 black with white dots

    4. Brown wire with green stripe, I am assuming this is a ground wire. Comes out of the harness alone under intake manifold toward the front of the engine. Wire colors are 1 brown with green stripe.

    still no reply first pic looks like some body bypass the plug with a wire..Is the car running ok....

      There was a thread about that orange plug...I think maybe headlight auto-level? It was something our cars don't have. The single plug looks like the one which activates the A/C compressor clutch. That black wire is weird...

        #4 looks like the connection for the oil pressure switch. If it is, there should be a spade connector on there. With ignition to ON, is there an oil warning light on the cluster?

        It would connect here at #3:

          Car has a high/wandering idle. I don't think this radiator was made for this car...

          I'll take a look to see if I can find a plug to hook up off of the AC compressor. The black wire is driving me nuts.

          No oil warning light on the cluster. It did come on up top recently after doing a tune up. Most of what I have read has said its the oil level sensor for that light.

            The oil light on the cluster is for pressure. Level sensor warning light is on the check panel next to the rear view mirror.

              The first one looks like it could be the coolant level sensor, but there are several plugs in the car that look like that. If you pull that wire jumping it, and your coolant light on the check panel lights up, you'll know that's the one.

                It'd also help if you can get the colors of the wire, like that one single black connector, if it's black/red then it's the A/C clutch, again to be sure you need the color and month/year the car was made.

                  The check panel light is on, so its the oil level sensor that needs replacing. Or I need to find out how to trick it into thinking its okay, I check my fluids regular, so I don't really need it.

                    I have updated my first post with wire colors.

                    I did't have enough time to to test #1.

                    #3 is to short to even get close to the AC comp. It's only about 2" long.

                        Mine has the same one dangling in that area. If I recall correctly, I followed the wire and it was attached to the AC compressor, so I assume it has something to do with the AC or the aux fan. It looks similar to the plug on the radiator for the aux fan temperature sensor, but you clearly already have one plugged in there (as do I).

                          Right, so I am wondering if I can use that as a source for the electric fan?
