Driverside engine mount bracket not lining up

    89 E30 w/ 99 S52 engine and trans.

I am trying to get the driverside engine mount bracket replaced because the one that had been in there was cracked along the corner. It was noticed the old one was missing 1 of the 4 bolts going into the block and once we got it out and the replacement in it was noticed that the 4th bolt was missing because the bracket will not mount with all for bolt holes aligned to the bracket/block.

Unfortunately I didn't do the swap so I don't have a ton of background on the details of what was done or why to make the swap work. But does anyone have any thoughts on what could be causing the issue with the misaligned bolt holes for the mounting bracket?

This depends what kind of motor mounts you have.
Its really difficult to install the OEM style E28 M5/535i rubber mounts that everyone recommends. Because the actual angle is different then stock.
Here's the revshift version that has the proper angle for example
These mounts are designed for a 1983-1991 E30 BMW 3-series with a 24 valve M50/M52/S50/S52/S54 engine swap. They use the oem motor mount bolt holes on the E30 subframe. The mounts are angled with offset bolts to position the engine so that proper drivetrain alignment is maintained. They are used with E36 engine bracket

When I installed mine and a friends - I installed the arm to the block, started the threading the nut a little and mounted everything and then tightened the nuts, otherwise the motor mount is near impossible to install

Thanks for the info. I will double check on what motor mount is currently in there.

Your talking about the lower right hole correct? I had this same problem. I grinded down the hole on the arm larger towards the middle so the fourth bolt would thread/ line up hope that helps.
