Up for sale is an E30 convertible that has received many upgrades over the last few years of my ownership, but one that will need some attention in areas to be perfect again. Below is a list of the mods and maintenance completed since I purchased the car. Please read the list below before asking questions. The car has many nice modifications, some rare and expensive. I am looking for quick sale and the price reflects the current condition of the car. I am firm on the price posted above.
Engine:
M20B25
Timing belt, water pump, accessory belts, coolant hoses valve cover gasket, intake boot all done at service ~15,000 miles ago
Spark plugs replaced ~5,000 miles ago
Battery is 1 year old
Bosch O2 sensor done before smog
M50 fuel injectors
173 ECU with performance engine chip
Polyurethane engine mounts
RED46 skid plate
A/C does not work, compressor went out and was removed.
Transmission:
5 speed manual
Z3 short shifter
Delrin shifter bushings
Polyurethane transmission mount
~5,000 miles on new clutch slave cylinder
Center support bearing and giubo replaced 2 years ago
Differential:
4.10 LSD with Redline fluid
Suspension/ Steering/ Brakes:
1996 M3 steering rack
H&R sports springs
Bilstein sport shocks and struts
Stock front convertible sway bar (thicker than coupes and sedans)
IE 22 mm rear sway bar with aluminum reinforcements and brand new drop links
Rear drilled rotors
Wheels
Front wheels are BBS 15”x7” et25 Euroweaves
Rear wheels are BBS RZ392 15”x7” et25 Euroweaves
This combination of wheels offers a staggered look as the rear wheels have a much wider lip despite being the same width and offset. The faces between the wheels are identical essentially and the center caps are the same between front and rear wheels. They are BBS bronze and have 205 50 tires installed. (225 45s were used on the rears at one point for a nice meaty rear set up).
Exterior:
Front “iS” cow catcher air dam
Rear “iS” trunk spoiler
Rear rare Zender 3 piece air dam
Lower rockers were painted Zinno
Hella ellipsoid headlamps – (smoked but done improperly by seller. The low beams function perfectly, but the high beams do not offer much more light as the housings were painted rather than use the tinted crosshairs traditionally used to smoke the headlamps)
Euro front grills with eye brows installed
Bumpers are painted black
"TOPLESS" front Euro plate
1 fog lamp is missing and will need replacement. These are the standard early model fog lamp units and not the hard to find and iS air dam specific units.
Interior:
Crack free dash
Full black heated leather interior from a late model convertible installed 2 years ago. Since then, the driver side bolster has split, and the rear upper portion of the back seat has started to finely crack. Both are repairable for minimal cost. The front heated seats were not connected to make them work.
Black leather shift boot and emergency boots are installed
BMW roundel leather shift knob
“iS” sport steering wheel with worn leather, cover installed
New VDO ODO gears
Stereo has AUX and CD functions
Rear headrests
Frame for the convertible top release handle is broken and needs to be replaced. The latch still functions to release the top. Some panels in the back of the car are showing age and could be replaced to be perfect again, they are in 7/ 10 shape.
Convertible Top:
Needs to be replaced. It keeps rain out and looks fine at 10 feet. The rear window is completed fogged over and cracked in a spot or two. The top has small little tears starting to show. This will need to be swapped out, along with some of the weather stripping associated with the install. Where the top affixes with the forward latches along the windshield, the driver side latch is heavily worn and should be replaced when the new top goes on.
Paint and Body:
The car was re-sprayed 6 years ago and it is ready to be done again to make it perfect. The car is appearing more matte in finish as the years go by, and chipping in a few small areas. I would say it is 5/ 10, looks great from 10 feet, but to be perfect again it’ll need some attention. At the beginning of this year a large truck backed into the driver side front fender. It is dented and should be swapped with a junkyard unit before paint ideally. The rear antenna stopped functioning and was leaking so it was removed. A cap sealed the hole where it once was but it went missing this week. I am looking for a new cap now.
Exhaust:
Factory catalytic converter, just passed CA smog
Exhaust was cut at the half shaft, no muffler. The exhaust is louder than the factory set up obviously, but sounds great. The pipes could be extended to the back and through the rear valance to look correct if wanted.
I will be updating this list as I go through more records and think of any modifications or upgrades as I am sure I missed things or could explain others better.
