    Will a e36 clutch fit a m20 with the e36 starter?

Im having trouble finding a clutch that will hold up with my turbo ix and still be nice and streetable. Right not im using the uuc 240mm m5 clutch kit with there segmented kevlar disk. Would good for about 6 months but after a few launches its already slipping trough 3rd at low boost. Now my car does have a slight oil leak which could in theory could be getting oil vapors in the clutch and causing it to slip. Either way it needs replaced and im not in the mod to do it again. I want something that will support over 500ft lbs of torque and be nice to drive, so im thinking twin disk. I called up uuc and they said i can use the e36 twin disk setup as long as i use the correct starter. For some reason that just sounds to easy, why havnt i seen other people do it? Anyone know of this is true and it will actually work?

Says here it will fit 5 series with m20

    Thanks stevan

Kevlar doesn't like hard launching from what I understood. See here: http://www.uucmotorwerks.com/clutch/

Rob at UUC recommended the carbon/ceramic for a local turbo m20 client here since he likes to visit the drag strip, but on another similar build he suggested Kevlar since it was mainly a street/hooning toy. Call him up and chat with him, we resell his products and he has been quite helpful with selection.

Either way, it should work fine. I have swapped things around. M20 clutch in m50, m20 in m42, m50 in m52b28 etc, customers try and save $, specially if they had a decent clutch before a swap, or using parts they have available. From what I have noticed, there's 3 starters assemblies, most motors are the same (two size motors, but same bolt patterns). On one m42 we even swapped the nose from an m20 assembly and put it on the m42 starter motor. The m20 had the larger frame motor, the swap made more room under the m42 intake. There are different size ring gears, so just have to make sure the teeth mesh properly.

Ok thats good to hear, i talked to one of the guys their and they just recommended the twin organic disks. Ill do some more research on the starter, i would think i would need a different slave fork because of the size of a twin disk, but they didnt mention anything about it so maybe it will work also.
