E36 trans in E30 body help.

Alright who here knows what todo?

E36 M3 trans matted to my M50. The E30 has a plate that attaches to the rear of the transmission to hold the selector rod. The E36 has a rod that attaches to the transmission and then to the tunnel. The E36 rod can not be used since there is so place for the end to attach in the tunnel. What would you recomend?

You had the early type shifter mechanism (steel plate) as standard ? The later type (same as E36) can be more or less directly replaced by E34/E36 mechanism (maybe a length issues).
The easiest way is to take a good look at the ETK and buy and get a hold of parts that are needed to attach the E36 mechanism to E30, since this can be done. Part itself is bolted, but it may require welding in some attachment points to chassis first. I'm not not sure about differences. Second easiest is to fabricate your own mechanism (this is what i did).
