I am planning on autocrossing my 325is, and I would like to correctly mount my harness. Does anyone make a harness bar for the E30? Or would this be a custom fabrication job?

ebay has a sparco and a something else harness bar. but both very expensive. i looked on google and found one for $230. that's why i did my own thing. idk if its event or street legal though.
i take it you have an aftermarket seat. anyhows, i bought e30 seat sliders at a junkyard to weld a bracket on to mount my current racing seat (some shitty ractive seat i paid $31 for > my broken e30 seat). I also got the seat's harness and simply welded an extra four little brackets onto the slider and i hooked the 4pt harness to that. Two by where the reclining gear part of the seat is, and two that wrap around the curved metal bar in the rear of the e30's slider. it works beautifly....
i do have to redo the brackets 'cause i welded the seat two-three fingers too high for my tasteNo more e30s for me.

Still the stock sport seat for now. I may wind up going to an aftermarket later though.
$430 is a wee bit more than I was hoping to spend. Looks like I'll have to get out my welder.Eric Austin

I think that's what I want. I'd still have to mount the belts themselves to the rear lap belt mounts though, and then just run them over the bar to give it the correct angle of attack, right?Eric Austin
