You Think I Need a Valve Job??

My car was kinda running like sh--, so I went down and bought some new spark plugs, rotor, and cap, and this is what I found when I took out the plugs:( The plugs are laid out in the first picture as if the very right is towards the front of the car.

I don't like the fact there is electrode floting around the chamber???

I don't know about a valve job.. those plugs are pretty fried. there is a chunk missing out of #2, which is very bad. they all look like they have been running really lean or detonating.

Put some new plugs in and maybe a fuel filter and some injector cleaner through it, also maybe some premium gas. Then report back in a little while.

two & three are pretty much oil fouled too. OH! and I ALWAYS use 91 octane in my car.

With #1 on the right... 1-3 look sort of okay and 4-6 look like they've been running lean. Things to check would include the possibility of intake leaks, bad AFM, or low fuel pressure. And if it has been more than 10K since the last valve adjustment that should be done.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

they do but notice the big chunk missing out of one of them.. that isn't caused by oil. thats why I think you have a lean/dentonation problem.

When I pulled the plugs from my new-to-me vert, they looked about like that, but,

a: they had been in there for 55,000 miles and

b: there was a sizeable hole in the intake boot for an unknown period of time before I bought the car (running lean).

Replaced plugs, and replaced air boot, and now plugs look normal.

I think it is time for an injector cleaning!

                  I use RC Engineering.

Buy a spare set, or better still, find a set of 4 pintle 17.5lb to swap in after you have them cleaned.
