An interesting pic I found today on German E-bay

I was looking through ebay and found this motor for sale today.
If you translate what it says, he bought a car to restore, got a bunch of extra parts in a box, and included was this motor. but the cams, pistons, rods and all the good stuff is all missing.

just thought you M42 guys would enjoy the pic. I have never seen or heard of a 2.1 ltr, but I am not a IS guy either.
    so enjoy.

That is a nice find Mike .

BMP here in the US is the distributor for Hartge and their catalogs from the mid nineties through like 2000 used to have pics of their engines including that 2.1 .

That is very sexy. I'm going to need one that says 2.0 though.

Im on this project M42B21 (Bore 86.6mm/Stroke 88mm) but it still looking for a cheaper piston alternative to fit in as i dont want to spend $900 for a brand new set of JE pistons. the best bet will be from an S50 or S52 but dont find some at this moment but of you know some one stripping a motor pls give me a buzz.

for the record it has been done many times and it blows 220HP@8000rpm and they are laughing around with the concept of M50 engine swap as those 325i are no much in the streets.
