No oil cooler on M30B35, why?

Can anyone tell me why the M90 and M30B34s have an oil cooler but BMW decided to remove the oil coolers on the latest M30B35s? (e32 and e34)

Is it recommended to swap the oil filter housing from an earlier model 3.4 to my M30B35.

I know it depends on your driving, it won't be a racecar, just for cruising purposes and yes I like to step on it now and then.

Thanks guys, pic of the tank below for appreciation.

Probably because they didn't actually do anything, as on the M20.

The U.S. b34 didn't use an oil cooler either. With the turbo cars it makes more sense I think.

With the bigger bores on the M90, it may have needed all the cooling help it could get as it was flying close to the wind for the maximum bore possible with the block.

None of the euro M20s had an oil cooler except the 325i, and even then I think they were probably optional because I've seen them with and without. Never had any issues with my M20s or M30 without one on the street.

M90 is far from maxing out the bores. The only m30s that came with oil coolers were in "performance" models, so it may have been a spec sheet thing where 911s had them so clearly our 635csi should as vell, ja.

I endurance race an m30 without an oil cooler and it's been fine..
