Just picked up a Granit E30 sedan, time to build! (S52 Turbo Content)
One of these days I'm going to have some time to swing by, I still want to see your car if you still have it! The only time I'm in Illinois is anymore is when I'm back from school and I usually take full advantage of having a garage then so I never have free time.
And I figured I would update this now that I have some free time. Sorry for any low quality pictures, my phone camera was shot for some of the summer.
Started her off by pulling the M20 and full interior. Apparently a mouse had gotten into the dashboard at some point and everything was covered in mouse droppings... Also the P/O had some aftermarket alarm/remote start installed that made a mess of the wiring. That wasn't fun. But after an interior swap and some carpet cleaning the interior came out really well.
Next I pulled the rear subframe, installed Condor bushings and moved my old 3.25 LSD over. I really hate pulling the subframes on these cars, of course both bushings got stuck and some of the aluminum part of the bushing got stuck in the shell.
Then I swapped the motor in...it was a tight fit. Had to work with the side of the engine bay near the turbo a bit. I'll probably pull the turbo and clean that section a bit some day but for now nobody gets close enough to see anything.
First drive, spent three weeks waiting to find a suitable driveshaft.
After that the car was having some overheating problems, so I ordered a new mishimoto, Spal pusher, and a turbo blanket.
Currently as the car sits the stock suspension is so blown that it has terrible rake...it squats like hell on acceleration as well.
But the future plans will take care of that.
Also not pictured is a Corbeau FX1 Pro in the driver's seat, that's a new addition. Plans for winter:
- Stance coilovers
- E36 steering rack
- New front control arms
- Treehouse CABs
- Re-install valence (haven't had time at school)
- New brake setup (not sure what yet)
Thanks,
Matt

That's pretty awesome. I can't imagine that power on those tires lol. What setup on the turbo/engine?
Yeah, I've gone through a couple of spares already. 1-3 are almost completely worthless. But the engine is mildly built on the bottom with slightly lowered compression. Turbo is either a custom Garrett or some Garrett rep, it's hard to tell since the markings aren't clear on the compressor housing and it came with the motor.
Thought I would post some more updates now that I had some time.
Finally assembled all of my suspension components for install...just in time for winter.
Pulled the whole front suspension as one and replaced everything.
Also mounted my valence finally
The car is finally sitting really nice now, left it higher for winter because of the convenient snow plow that is the s52 oil pan.
Thanks,
Matt

I saw your link on reddit...came over to see the photos, say hello, and nice job! That interior is very clean. How are you enjoying that boosted S52? I'd like to do a motor swap too some day after my body resto-work is finished and I've flogged the M42 to death.

Thanks! The interior is in very good shape besides the back seat...I'm still trying to track a good local one down but there's not many sedan parts around me. And I'm really loving it. It's hard to enjoy right now with the current weather, but once spring comes around I'll be happy again.
But at least you have some time to slowly acquire parts, that's the way to do it. I hate rushing a build it usually ends up with having to make worse financial decisions because you can't wait around for deals.
Are you going to put an m50 manifold on it? I hear it flows better
Still trying to decide on this one. It definitely does flow better, however you trade off spool speed. I'm trying to find some dyno sheets that show the difference it makes on a boosted motor.
Thanks,
Matt
