thats not fair to say actually.

location can really affect costs......and some pay 5k for cabinets....some pay 80k....the variances $$$$$$$ in these builds are huge

btw...that bath would look like a million w/ different wall colors imo
I love sitting down and just driving!

Thanks for all of the comments gents.

Yeah, color wasn't my favorite, but it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Made the misses very happy, so it made me very happy.

And I think the price of things must be relative to what people find important. A 7k kitchen may do wonders for someone, but be absolute shit for someone else.

Like for me, cooking is very important. Love cooking food. So a 7k kitchen wouldn't cut it. Hell, 7k barely pays for half of just the refrigerator in my kitchen. The kitchen in my home is its center, and most of my waking hours in the house are spent in the kitchen. So it gets money and attention. Now on the other hand, my living room and sun room are both very basic. Basic furniture, simple stands/tables etc. It just isn't as important to my life to spend serious funds on it yet.

That's why I asked if they were particalboard box cabinets and arborite counters, and posted the price of my appliances which are NOT high end.

I am just amazed that it's possible to put in a kitchen WITH appliances for 7k.

This is why, after a tear down rebuild, my kitchen walls are yellow. I don't care for it. But that's what she wanted.

                    Actually, go to www.cabinetgiant.com

No particle board. They are really nice cabinets, they come in a flat box. You have to put them together yourself (half a day) and they are delivered for free to the closest freight dock. I know guys that can do a large kitchen in granite for 2k. Not cheap granite either. Appliances come from closeout stores and cost around 2.5k new and not scratched up. I do all the work myself. 7k total all day long.

you guys remember the thread i posted 6 or 8 months back titled "my latest real estate flip"?

                            here is the thread:http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=387562

below is a pic of the kitchen i did in that house. the granite is the silver/blue flecked color. it cost about 30% more than the bottom of the line cheap granite.we paid 2k including custom installation. the installer comes to the house, measures the countertops, shows up a couple days later with the slabs and custom cuts and polishes everything on site. the price mentioned even included the undermount sink basin. the backsplash was around 200 bucks total. all the electrical and pluming work only cost the amount of the parts as i also installed all of this myself. perhaps 600.00? the cabinets came from cabinet giant as mentioned above. they have no particle board. they have soft close hinges and drawers, the drawer boxes are maple dovetailed. they are incredible quality. i'm not saying they are the best on the market, but i have been doing this on the side for years. i have done shitloads of research and continually do so every time we start a project. they are literally the best cabinets available for the price. hell, they are the best cabinets availible for 4x the price. the total package was about 3k shipped to a local freight dock. i do the layout myself. my wife picks the style she wants, i measure out the space we have to work with, and to through their inventory and choose the cabinets they offer that will best fit in those areas. all the appliances are brand new mid grade matching stainless whirlpool. the 5 burner gas stove was originally 1100.00 marked to 400.00. dishwasher was around 300.00. microwave was a little over 200 bucks. not shown in the photo, but we ended up buying a used matching whirlpool stainless side by side refridgerator off craigslist for 300.00. the couple that bought the house were doctors. they made it a point to tell us they were incredibly impressed with the kitchen.

don't get me wrong....i am not mentally insulated from the true cost of a renovation. i know that if i paid someone to do that same kitchen for me, it would have been around 40k.

oh, and by the way....every project we do is only done to a standard in which we would be willing to live in.

i'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
