    Convertible rear window defroster

I feel weird about running mine. It's basically a heating element with a fan around it. I feel like it's old and crumbly and going to start a fire. Anyone else feel the same way? I can reuse the circuit for rear fogs or an amplifier or something. Worth keeping?

it's a Kenny Powers quote on wheels

I never use mine, simply because I dont see the point. And the last time I used it the switch got real hot.

I've used mine with no adverse effect. It's obviously not the most efficient design but it's better than nothing ifnyou cant see out back.

Same thing crossed my mind when I first got the car and tried it out. The burnt smell that came out of it wasn't nice.

Having a resistance element makes it a good idea to give the blower a thorough cleaning before using it to avoid toasting whatever has accumulated or...is living in it lol

I'm reminded of the snake skin I found in my hvac blower housing....right next to the mouse nest

Mine works as designed. Use it about once a year. Just like any electrical heating element, it smells bad for the first few minutes of use after sitting for a while. No big deal, as long as the fan is running.
