Nice build, where in houston are you? Im over in spring, getting close to having my e30 back on the road. I swaped in a m52 running on ms3 with sequential fuel/ign. got it started to find a bad water pump before i can start tuning.

How were the prices at that junkyard? Would you be willing to get some of the e39 pieces for me?

Nice start. What did the yard charge you for the S50?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Bought a soda blaster. Should make cleaning things easier.

I would like to point out finding it was a fluke. The yard I got it from didn't even know how I even found out they had it....

                      Soda blaster works pretty well.

                      Before:

                      After:

Popped off the flywheel, flex plate, whatever.

                      Rear seal be leaking. :o

Put on the mount for the stand

Got to see if my M50 mount would work with only one bolt

SUCCESS! Let the tear down begin!

                      AC Compressor off

Then started taking everything off of the other side

                      Date stamp

That's all I could do tonight. I need to get the impact after the harmonic balancer, but that requires the air compressor that's at the other house. So something to do tomorrow. ;)

So the next few days are going to be like Christmas.

                        Here's the schedule for deliveries:

                        Thursday:

                        Spal fan from JayCorp
Part of a big ass order from Pelican Parts

                        Friday:

Getrag 260, IX booster, and E36 brake master cylinder from Autobahn auto parts in Cali
Other part of the big ass order from Pelican - "the special order stuff"
                        Mishimoto radiator- eBay
                        Random stuff from Turner
                        Brake things from RM European
                        Carr Industries shorty headers
                        AKG swap mounts

                        Saturday:

I pick up that massive order from the Dealer

                        Monday:

Spec stage 2 clutch from LM Performance
Driveshaft and shift linkage from Autobahn

                        So yeah I'm stoked. :)

The last things I need are an intake (KA motors most likely), a 3.25-3.46lsd, and a power steering pump. That'll be everything for the driveline.

An unexpected surprise arrived from Canada today. A complete 325i vert body harness down to the 13 button bits. Honestly wasn't expecting this for another week going on what Canada post usually takes.

                          And untangled:

And some of the other things that came in today:

                          And some of the contents:

Everything to refresh the tranny all in one bag:

Took the impact to the engine tonight. Got the harmonic balancer, exhaust manifolds, and the AC bracket off. Can't take the oil housing off till I get something to contain the oil.

Also put back on the water pump and thermo housing to get it ready to be cleaned. Don't want dirt, etc going places it really shouldn't. ;)

Gotta figure out how to get those studs out....

My reminder to drain the oil, pulled out the dip stick without thinking.

To get the studs out is easy, double nut (or triple nut if necessary) each stud. Thread 2 nuts onto the stud, tighten both nuts in opposite directions, so that they lock together in place, then turn on the bottom most nut to take out the stud.

To remove the nuts from the stud simply loosen the top most nut while holding the one under it in place.

                            If that makes sense..

It does, using the force of the nuts against each other allowing the stud to loosen instead.

                                Whoop for partz!

My transmission also came in, but the joy was short lived.

                                The Carr Industries headers:

                                AKG Poly swap mounts:

Random parts from Turner, mainly delrin bushings for the shifter and stainless clutch line.

E34 oil pan, pump, and pick up.

And there's more, but those are the main high lights.
