    Bought a '88 325iS

After driving an old Neon around for awhile, I decided I was in for a bit of an upgrade in the "classiness" department. I randomly browsed the car market for a few months, and eventually fell in love with E30s.

After hopelessly looking around and eventually giving up the search for a nice CLEAN one, a good family friend decided it was time for his to go and gave me a call.

Long story short, I instantly ran to his house with $3,000 in hand. Fast forward to today, and I've had the new baby for about a month.

I hope I can meet some new friends and learn some new things from all of you in the months ahead!

Great price for what looks to be a super clean car. Congrats!

              Thanks, guys! ;)

Just as a short history lesson, I believe the original owner had it ordered straight from the factory. He used it as a daily driver for a few years, and while he did take pretty good care of it, he somehow managed to forget to change the timing belt. It snapped, ruined the engine beyond all repair and, being a near brand-new car covered by an incredible insurance plan, it was replaced by a BMW dealership. Soon after though, he sold it to the PO, an incredibly meticulous German car fanatic. He kept it in near perfect shape for about 20 years, all before selling it to me.

At this point in time, it's got around 240,000 miles on it, but the engine itself only has about 140,000. The PO was a nice enough guy to replace the brakes, timing belt, and oil filter right before I bought it, so I should be fairly set in terms of maintenance for awhile. The transmission and suspension will need some work soon, but I'm waiting for some nicer weather and a little more available cash to embark on that mission.

The exterior plastic parts had seen better days, so I tore the majority of it off and am in the process of cleaning, prepping, and painting it. So far, I've finished the grille pieces, the driver's side front bumper surround, and a few more miscellaneous bits. I am really impressed with the results so far!

Wow, nice find! It looks exactly like my first e30! Plastic bumper swaps make the '88 cars look great, but plastic Zinno bumpers are hard to come by. Keep your eyes peeled, and welcome to r3v!
