    Going to Germany.... plans?

So yeah, I should be hitting up Germany for 3-4 weeks and I'm trying to plan my trip out and I was hoping that I could get some suggestions from you guys.

Right now I'm looking at going May 19th and coming back on June 19th. So far I've planned out visiting some folks over there for a couple of days, hitting up one of Brazil's soccer games @ the World Cup, and check out the Ring in person.

Any more ideas? Places I should check out? I'll probably be backpacking a lot so I'm looking foward to travel some to visit different places.

    Suggestions?

    - Erick

Some of the highlights when I went were Neuschwanstein(sp?) castle and the Hofbrauhaus in Munich. If you can take the train to the top of the Zugspitz(i think its the highest mountain in Germany) there's one hell of a view too.

Speaking of Autobahn, what's the deal with driving with a foreign license? Just in case I can get ahold of my relatives car (by any miracle).

I would even be down to hittin up the BMW museum with you for the day, Ill drive even! about 2 hours away from here. there are a couple of old euro car museums in the sinseim area- I really liked them.

Sounds like a plan... I'm definetly focusing my trip further south.... My family is in Stuttgart and most of my interests are in Bavaria.

Hitting up Amsterdam sounds like a good idea tho o.O

well, I drove when I was there last year, no problems. I am pretty sure that you can drive overseas if you have a valid US License. If you are in Munich, you HAVE to check out the BMW Mueseum, it is amazing. Try to go to Berlin if you get a chance, and hike in the Alps down south, they are amazing. I want to go back to Germany so bad, maybe I will this summer....

Sweet man, have fun! I'll be in Munich June 2nd through like the 4th. If I wasn't going to be with the fam, and had a little more time, I'd say we should all meet up.

Yeah when I head up I'll be spending the first 3-4 days with family.... although I cant complain since the relative I'll be staying with during that time will be one of the biggest car nuts in the family. :D

We should definetly keep in touch tho.

I'm also down to buy some rattlecans and lay my mark on the Nurburgring. :)

Das Autobahn has a observed limit of 130KM/h this is the standard but in areas marked by triple hash mark you are allowed to go as fast as you would like SAFELY.

Avoid the former East. It sucks. I know, I lived there for 5 months. The bigger cities aren't bad, but everything else sucks. Get smaller than Erfurt and it is downhill.
