Good idea about the support under the holder. When i made mine, it seemed strong enough to hold a can of pop that i usually drank. But with heavier cups it may of had a little give in it.

Pretty sure i'd punch the hell outta my cup shifting into 5th with it there....then again i have an insane amount of play in the shifter

what is that support piece under the wire? anyone know if that is a part i can pick up at a hardware store? I run a similar cupholder from BAVAuto thats NLa and it could use a piece like that underneath

They hold full cans and cups just fine.

It mounts to the two screws that hold the ashtry in.
