    DSP e30 or e36?

all bias aside, is the e36 a better handling car or can the e30 be setup to handle just as well?

The e30 can be setup to handle just as well, heck Saturday I went on a drive with the Chattanooga BMWCCA and a guy with an E46m3 who tracks the car, kept commenting on how quick the little old eta is.

hahaha. like a 17 year old chassis will stay solid under constant high g abuse... hahaha.

e36s can fit bigger tires easier, have a lot more power and torque, have a better suspension geometry, and only have a penalty of a little more weight

E30s are fun and popular because they can Auto-Xed on a budget, but in the world of Auto-X, money is no issue. The only reason there was an E30 on podium at Nationals is Alex is an exception to the E36-dominance rule.

If you want the most competitive DSP car, E36 is where it is at for BMW, but that's not saying you couldn't dump a shitton of money into an E30 and have years of seattime under your belt and make some noise. Supposedly there are some quick E30s in Cendiv from Ohio, but there are just a lot of fast E36ers with 2.8L DOHC vanos. Randy does well in his region too, but then again, thank the driver moreso than what he's piloting.

If you want an E30 to Auto-X, I'd nab a 318is and rock out G-stock.

            More important questions is:

            How much money you got?

No LSD allowed FTL. I tried last year.

"L. Limited-slip differential, transmission and differential ratios,
clutch mechanisms and carburetion, fuel injection or supercharger
induction systems must be standard as herein defined."

That's from the SCCA Solo Stock Categlory rules. If a 318is had the option of a LSD available, it should be allowed. Alex, would you care to enlighten us on this subject?

When the E36 M3 was first made, BMW tested it on the Nurburgring with the S14 motor and it was faster than the E30 M3. At least that's what they say...

Better aero, better suspension, better brakes. If you designed a newer chassis and body and your older car was still faster.....some people would be headed for unemployment :p

I don't see why it's not allowed. It should be allowed, if you local people protested you running G-Stock, I'd take it up to the higher authorities.

All the bimmers in G-stock came with LSD as options; 318i/iS, eta's, 318ti's and 2002s (I am not 100% sure on the 2002s though)

When I first started in my super eta, I was in G-Stock with the 2.93LSD

Snippet on what is allowed for Stock category:
Anything available on the exact model and year of your car as standard or optional equipment, as installed on the factory assembly line (nothing available only dealer-installed is allowed),

So I guess the weight advantage doesn't count for much?
