not really all that expensive, considering what you'll drop on an s54

780 Pounds... i'm guessing here... maybe $950-1000? For plug'n'play ems that's not bad...

$5k for a good used motor. $1,2k for engine management. That's only $6,2k for a turn key 350hp motor. Being stock, it will be unstressed.

          That's all good news.

Electronics aside, what else mechanically is needed to get this thing to fit properly?

                  same as any other 24v:

                  -e34m50 oil pan/pump
                  -e28m30 mounts
                  -e36m50 mount arms
-rotate tranny bracket 10*, or use some other tranny/driveshaft combo
-something creative with the brake booster

You need to somehow retool the brake master cylinder arrangement. Stock booster is way too big, most all smaller diameter boosters are too big, stock MC is too long, etc.

Solutions may include running tandem manual MCs or a stock MC on a revised leverage ratio brake pedal (cutting and welding would be involved) and an adapter plate.

That's about the only real challenge I think.

hmm this might be the breakthrough for these swaps to become a lot more common.

Around 4000 - 4500, at least in my neck of the woods.

5K for 03.5+ with low miles, from a manual.
