    Steering sticks?

I bought the car with cut springs and noticed my steering was off. I assumed it was the suspension.

Replaced with ground control / koni all around. Now my alilgnment is slightly off (on the freeway wheel is turned slightly right to go straight) and I know I need this fixed.

However, the sticking steering just doesn't seem related. If I turn the wheel to full lock (the power steering kind of squeaks/squeals) it doesn't want to come back to center. For the next ways I drive it will continue to pull that way.

For example, lets say I take a 90 degree right turn, the wheel doesn't pull itself back to center. I have to move and hold it there. If I let go the car pulls right. Same thing happens left.

When cruising straight for a while, maybe at higher speeds haven't been able to tell yet, it will straighten back out and stop pulling. But around the city it's always pulling one way or the other and it's driving me insane.

By GC do you mean coilovers? And was a part of that the GC race camber plates? If so the pulling is probably from tight bearings in the camber plates. They'll wear in in a thousand miles or so and stop pulling to one side after a hard turn to that side. Liberal application of a Moly bearing oil may help in the meantime.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

I think you have stock upper mounts? If so, and this applies to ALL e21, e30 and e36 BMWs, you need to be sure that the factory dustshield/spacer/washer is installed under the stock upper mount . What you and I call the "upper mount" is called "guide support" by the factory and here is a pic:

That little thing is THAT important to my sticky steering?

And yup, I have the "stock" setup with no camber plates.

It also did this with my old cut springs. I've been reading something about greesing up part of the steering assembly?

I'm hopeful that my rack isn't going bad since it does squeal at full lock.

          Racks don't squeel, pumps do.

Which means I should search up on that... once I figure out this sticking problem.

A bad pump/rack could also cause auto re-centering issues.

Is there things I can try before I jump to the fact that it's broken.

IE grease something up? Change fluid? Something?

Wait, I just realized I got the whole assembly out of someone elses cars so if it worked for them then that's not my problem. Must be something unrelated. If it comes back to checking this then i'll have to but if there are other things to check first I would prefer to do that.

                    Thanks for the replies.

                    So what else is there?

Apparently those little washers below that piece are also super important.

I will admit I completely doubted this. Decided to give it a go. My problem is 100% fixed. Unbelievable. I still don't believe it.

                      Thanks guys.
