    BMW Step questions

If you are currently enrolled I would like some details. Are you sponsered? If so what percentage did your dealer cover? Grades, out of pocket expenses? So on.

I was asking my local dealer and he was looking for Tech and would have considered sponsering me but I'm moving to DC.

    Benifits from BMW?

The Way I understand is the dealer dosn't pay anything but basically says if your willing to go threw the training We will have a job for you once your done. I've been thinking about doing the STEP program once I'm done with college. Depends if I find a Job I like or not.

The dealer pays.Tthe only way to get in is to be sponsored. Or go to UTI and get in that way, but then you have no guarentee of what dealer you will be working at and you will get stuck there for a minimum of 2 years.
The 10week step is now discontinued (in ontario at least) and now its just the 26 week course. My dealer is sending me to classes while I am working, which is better because:
              A) I get a rental car
              B) my hotels/food are all paid for
              C) I get paid my hourly wage while at class
              D) its 2-5 days at a time instead of 3-6 months.

Dissadvantage is it will take a bit longer to complete the program, but I won't have to move away and change my life around to get through school.

ill be in STEP in about 3 years, finish this year of part time classes and a new full time job    then 2 years at an automotive technology school, then finally STEP. the way it works is if you meet their criteria, and complete their training, then work at the dealer they place you at (can be anywhere in the country, no garuntee of choice) for at least 6 months, then they pay for everything, if you break one of their rules, you must pay for the schooling. its a really cool program they have, I cant wait, then again I can becuase of my new job  which is sawwwweeeet!!

I get out of tech school in march after that I will be going to STEP in the same way Ryan is going. I have to sign a 3yr contract with the dealorship that is sponsoring me. BMW pays for everything except living expences ( if u have to move to one of the locations)

I dont know of any campuses that still offer STEP II.

I went through STEP last fall and am working at a dealership now. Its entirely possible to be accepted into STEP without being sponsored (like me), but youve gotta be johnny on the spot with grades and attendance at your technical school.

If you arent sponsored the minimum contract legenth is 6 months (not 2 years) with the dealer you choose to go with. Im almost through with mine already.

It looks like I might be finding employment either in MD or Va. so it has to be within 30 minute drive. If not I will contine to fly October of next year then I think I'm done.
