    Late AlpinWhite clear or not

    A 1991 Alpin White.

Does anyone know for sure if its cleared or not?

It looks to me like the factory paint is single stage, but I would like a confirmation...

When was the switch? I'm fixing a couple hundred gravel dings on my '89 Alpineweiss 2 and put on the clear coat per instructions from paintscratch.com. Is the CC patch surface going to mis-match when I finish compounding & waxing?

alpineweissII has clearcoat, whereas the alpineweiss (I) does not. So it should look ok.

My original Alpine White II paint does not have a clearcoat.

Are you sure? Everything I have read indicates that Alpine II does have clear coat.

All alpineweissII's (could think of it as II vs I stage, too) most definitely had a clear coat. I find that extremely hard to believe without an improper respray. BMW is not going to spray cars with and without clear coats and call it the same color. Or put this way, all official documentation specifies APII has a clear over it.
