    Coil O Rama

So ive gotten some questions and PMs on my coilover setup. So heres how i did it.

    Step 1:

Get a generic ebay coilover kit. I got mine from option Racing. From what i hear there all the same, but they had Civic ones listed at the moment i needed to buy, so i went with that over the E36 stuff. You dont use most of the kit anyway.

    Step 2:
Find some real springs. No mystery rate stuff, I did GC 300/500# at 6".

    Onto the install:

First, remove the stock perch, leaving the weld. Then measure how much of the adjuster sleeve youll need inbetween the shock nut and stock perch weld(theyre far too long)

    Should look like this:

Then youll need a top hat. The ones that come with the kit are bullshit, i wouldnt trust them and advise agianst it.

Instead, take the stock top hat and weld a 2.5in (or whatever the ID of your spring is) onto it like so:

A little sprits of paint on the top hat to make it look purdy, and the spring:

And the rest is easy as pie.

Thanks to chris @ castros for the welding and help

      lulz.

Its really not too much different than the GC install, but hopefully this takes out some guesswork and head scratching

A lot of people over think coilovers as if they are some super special product. The most important thing on making one of these set-ups is a good spring and an adjuster sleeve & collar with strong threads. Everything else is pie.

I know this is a couple months old.

But what shocks did you use.

with that setup that I see in your pics, you'll be on bump-stops.

... and awesome use of ebay sleeves. I ran those with great success.

Thanks, I'm looking at getting new suspension and I might do a setup like what you did here.

I tweaked it up after the pics... But yeah not far at all. Ill probably go to short shocks or at least GC camber plates to regain some travel.

And im hoping thats not sarcasm, mine havent given me trouble yet
