    Prolonging the Procrastination...

    From this thread: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=97962

Someone or something hacked into my Photobucket account and deleted ALL my photos so that thread is pretty much worthless at this point. That and the fact that it began in 2007 and hadnt really accomplished much other than the 5 lug and complete rebuild on the suspension. Most of the pictures I have are on my old computer, I'll try and upload from that soon. *Update* - Now that Photobucket has gone off the deep end with hosting pics, I have been in the process of moving everything over to flickr.

Car is an 89 325is with 120k and I've been hoarding parts for as long as Ive owned it. Currently working on getting the TCDs2 kit installed...

So, here we are almost 4 years later and I've made more progress on the car in the last couple weeks than i have in the last couple of years.
Here are some photos that I had on my current laptop that I've uploaded.

This is what the garage looked like for the first 2 years:

E30M3 5 lug swap, all swap parts new from Blunt, front tubes shortened and reinforced by GC. GC track kit 450/600, ST sways, Ireland and Turner reinforcements, Powerflex RTAB,FCAB,subframe bushings, GC sway links, All calipers rebuilt, Turner braided lines, blah blah blah...

Once I finished the suspension, I finally got her down on the ground and drove it for a few weeks. This would have been September of 2008 sitting on staggered style 5's:

So she went back in the garage where she has been ever since. I did pull the Motor in April of 2010. :D Last month I cleaned the garage, got organized, and started tearing into the motor:

Wheeled her outside for a little cleaning:

Head looks pretty good but its going out regardless. I'm leaning towards the VAC stage 2 and new rockers.

Block has now been painted, all parts were dropped of for PC yesterday, and the oil pan is at the welder getting the bung for the return line from the turbo.

        I'm trying! :p

Welder called and said the pan is done so I'll pick that up in the morning on the way into work. Not much to do in the garage tonight other than start to formulate a list for oil line fittings.

The 2 larger boxes on the right are the TCD kit minus all the big stuff. The box on the left is from Blunt, pretty much every seal, gasket, bearing, bolt, etc. for freshening up the motor.IMG_0071 by Bob Cooper, on Flickr

              Haha, I hear ya!

Picked up the pan this morning and I'm debating if I should drop it off for PC or just leave it as is. Opinions?

PC'ing an oil pan sounds like you have too much disposable income.

                  I like that. Quoted.

Disposable income, no. A little OCD, yes.

You can appreciate that as I've seen your thread...

^I'd say yes. I don't remember you having a penchant for running super slammed or anything.

                      I like it leaux, remember?

Here's the pan. This guy came recommended from some guy on my local forum. He did a pretty nice job and was waaaay into what I was doing. I think I made a new friend which isnt a bad thing considering my welding skillz. I also had him make a couple of caps for my AC hard lines just in case I reinstall it in the future.

That quote was from and old guy who got “Chip Foose/Overhauled”. It really struck home to me.

..and yeah – the OCD is something I struggle with, indeed. lol. For things like engine work/cosmetics, it’s really hard for me to say “Jesus dude! That’s good. Get it clean – get it healthy – and get that f’ing thing back on the road already!!”

As far as the oil pan – if it’s all aluminum, coating it seems kinda silly. (to me anyway) (plus it’ll just add weight)

I’m really stoked for you. Pulling new parts from a stash and putting it all together is definitely one of the better parts of the journey.

The thing with the pan is, if you clean it as is or polish it, it will eventually corrode. If you paint it, the paint will wear off and again corrode away.
PC'ing it is not expensive, and will last a looong time.

Why not is the bigger question. Gonna PC the timing cover, themostat housing, etc?
