So who was the seller, and what did you buy? Seriously, if you're gonna solicit r3v's input, you gotta provide all the grimy details
it was a massive black dildo. The delivery guy kept it for himself.

insurance on a $1000 package can't have cost more than $5-10. Why would anyone take that risk, especially on something so heavy/expensive?

The insurance is basically the shipping company's way of saying "your item may get lost or damaged, but we'll cover it for a 1% fee". If you don't take them up on that, it's your fault, not theirs.
I definitely understand your point, but heres how i see it.

People pay companies like this to trasport items from one place to an other. If they lose my package, then they did not provide a service, which is what i paid for. Thats almost like giving them my money and souvineir to keep. BULLSHIT.

I think of the insurance as a way to get you to spend more money on them. Its exactly for a situation like this when youre shipping something valuble and wont be worth anything if it was damaged, which is understandable since they ship so many things at one, but to "lose" something is different cause the service is not completed. It totally disrupts a process, for example, someone who sells things on ebay. If the company was full of dickheads, they could take people's money and claim they lost everyones packages and keep it for themselfs and get away with it...
Which i wouldnt be surprised has been done a few times, especially during deliveries.

BTW, check the desivery guy's signature

I didn't read everyone's responses but I don't think it would have made a difference if we got insurance or not. UPS would have claimed it was delivered and you would have to prove they damaged it. What was it btw?
