    No crank?

    I have an '84 325e car that snapped the timing belt. I yanked the engine and replaced it with another E motor. Everything physically transferred over no problems. I just went to crank it over to make sure it fires before welding up my exhaust and putting the rest of the cooling system back in place. With the key in the 'on' position the fuel pump runs constantly. I was under the impression it would prime and then stop until the motor starts, no? I get nothing at all when I flick the key over to start. Lights go out on the cluster but no crank whatsoever. Battery voltage is 12.6 with unknown cca but it's been trickle charged for the last week or so while I've been doing the swap.

    I pulled the A/C system (condenser, e-fan, compressor, etc) at the same time I did the motor swap, is there anything there that I could have fubar'd to cause this?

    Could've nicked the crank position sensor, but I don't think that would stop it from cranking.
    I have friends who are EOD bro.

    That's awesome. I have friends who make coffee for a living, but you don't see me rocking out a bunch of lattes

      Check the engine to chassis ground cable.

        I pulled them when when I yanked the motor and they 'looked' okay. However, I'm not sure they're plugged back into the correct spot. (since there are two right next to each other that are the same sensor) I don't know which connector does what but like you said, I didn't think it would prevent cranking, just firing.

        Is there just the one from the driver side frame rail to the oilpan? That's all that I can find and it was snug. I pull it, scuff up the pan and try again.

          Welp, I'm retarded. When looming the harness back through the enginebay after bolting the intake manifold on I went to hook up the starter wires and hooked the small ignition wire to the wrong spade terminal. I knew it was something stupid.
