It looks very similar to the e30 rack. How close together are the input and output banjo bolts?
Re: your comment about driving with no power steering. You can't compare a dead pump to deleting your power steering. When you delete power steering you remove most of the fluid from the rack. When a pump dies, the fluid is still in the rack creating resistance...

Ghost, hope you can answer this.

This is what I was thinking.

        Thanks.

How much fluid do you actually remove upon deleting the pump, silence?

Not that much, when I changed my pump, I had some remaining in the can after filling it back up (reservoir, line to pump and the actual pump).

I added some pics in the album. http://imgur.com/a/5U8Ru

For the exact measurements, you might be better of checking them yourself! Born and raised in the metric system and I don't work in construction :nice:

Silence, having seen those pics from Ghost, I believe the e30 block won't work, right? Would you be able to fab 1 for us? & if so, what's the cost we'd be looking at? I suppose you'd have to get hold of an R50/53 rack for precision.

You need to remove 90% of the fluid in the rack.

Yes my delete will not work, but i know I can make something that will. I will need a rack to take measurements from. Do any of you have an old one you can send me? the cost would be similar to the e30 delete... possibly a fraction higher depending on the manufacturing process.

I'll try to post it on the MINI boards. Hope someone can donate a junk rack. Thanks for the prompt reply, silence!

FYI all i need is the part that the banjo bolts screw into. someone could potentially put the rack on a bandsaw, and cut the ends off so it fits in a small box.

You're still based in Ft. Lauderdale, right? Hoping a volunteer local or near you would show up. MINI racks aren't prone to failure. The pumps are. I doubt we could find junk racks that one would dare cut & send over. It's a long shot. Your local salvage yard can lend you, perhaps? Your kit would include the bolts?

Yes im in ft. lauderdale, If necessary i may include bolts, but it would drive the cost up some.
