Coming into the new year... big plans and more abuse

Catching up to the current state of the car I have decided that I would compete in the Speed Ventures Bimmer Challenge competition for 2017. I have started to put the car on a diet in an effort to be a touch more competitive in B5 class. There are some good drivers in Bimmer Challenge and I have much to learn but I'm excited to take on the challenge.

I scooped up a set of Federal RSRR and the e30 without a rear seat is a great tire hauler :pimp:

From all my research and reading the Federal tires run larger than their listed size, so I picked up a set of 215/45/17 to replace my 225 Bridgestones. These run a touch over 220mm wide and im glad I went down a size because im sure the Federal 225 would have been rubbing everywhere at over 230mm actual size! I am waiting on the California rain to ease up (rain in CA what the hell ) before installing them...

The rear skipass and head rest seat was taken out and weighed in at 54lbs!!! I was shocked and happy to lose the weight. Door cards were also removed and all 4 with pockets and pulls weighed in around 20lbs (19.6 to be exact)

I had also noticed that my windshield seal was creaking a bit when going down a driveway at an angle. I already had the Sparco front strut tower brace, but decided another brace may be needed. I went ahead and picked up a Garagistic X brace and installed it to see if it would help.

The weld quality and build of this brace is fantastic, I am very pleased with it. Better yet it really made a difference in the tightness of the front end. It cured some slop I didn't even know I had until I went on a drive with the brace installed. It pained me a bit but I did have to trim a bit off the front in order for it to clear the HIK fab skid plate. Overall a minor mod required and something I always expect when I mix and match parts from different companies.

Windshield banner to show some support as well as block out the sun. This is two pieces a black strip with decal applied over the top. I believe you can get one piece banners now if you ask for them.

Man this is excellent. I would love to see the look of the previous owner when he sees this, or better yet, when you take him for a ride in this.

              Good going!

I just bought this car back after some years of her being with a friend... it's good to be back. Hopefully more to come.

Some small updates since she's back in my ownership...

Recaro LX fishnets were replaced for some Recaro SR2 Seats for a bit more sporty feel. These seats were re-covered with suede on the bolsters and a 5/sub belt hole made in case I ever wanted to run harnesses. I think they fit nicely with the already black suede headliner.

The 385mm Mtech I wheel was swapped out for a 350mm Nardi Fittipaldi (Which if anyone knows where to get a Nardi emblem for less than 90 flippin dollars lmk)

The 16x8 Style 5, while very period correct looking, were just too small to fit over the e46 m3 brakes and didnt allow proper wheel weights to be installed (not without rubbing the caliper). They were sold and swapped out for a set of bimmerworld TA5R 17X8.5 +35 which are great quality and nice and light for their strength. These will be my "track wheels" so I wasn't too concerned with the look on the car as I have a different set in my sights for appearances in the future.

Another R3v member had a mason bar for sale so scooped that up to try something different from my original Sparco strut bar.

last but not least I updated my original shifter which was a garagistic prototype (I was part of the R&D testing) to one of their nicely black anodized new units. I think it fits nicely in the interior at the medium height with delrin knob.
