dougsic - do you think they would fit on a car with normal factory style control arm bushings? Can you measure the distance from the edge of the frame rail to the exhaust pipe for reference? I have rubber offset bushings in my car and want these headers on my s50 too.

    Thanks

    David

            dont

its easiest to remove the engine arm, otherwise you have to put the back headers up first, then the front. They need to come in from the bottom. Then once you get them up there, you will have to connect it to the exhaust somehow. It took me a few weeks til I got mine welded up, it was loud because it doesnt like to fit up to e30 exhaust too well. it still leaks a little. Just touched it up a little last night and it got better.

i have these on my S50 swap and I definitely like them, especially for the price. To anyone that might be attending the E30 Picnic this weekend and wants to hear what these sound like then just look for me and I'll start it up for you. I really notice that they quieted my car down quite a bit.

any update on the group buy? If not I'm buying them off ebay soon, they are pretty cheap on there anyway!

Damn near impossible in my opinion.

I had to raise the engine enough to remove the pass side engine support and mount which is easily done with a lift and a 5' screw jack. It was also easy to position the headers at a steeply raked angle to slip them into place - how you would do this without at least a very high lifting (and stable) floor jack I can't imagine. Even with my AC Hydraulics floor jack I wouldn't want to try it.

I know there are guys that have done it and my hats off to them!

If anyone in or around Maryland would like to use my shop to install these headers, PM me.

As stated, I think these headers are a great buy but I strongly suggest you also purchase new exhaust studs, copper nuts and BMW factory manifold gaskets before diving in. When I removed my factory manifolds most of the studs came out with the nuts still attached.

Oh, and I had to remove the motor mount aluminum heat shield (no longer needed) for the headers to clear it. Easily done by drilling out the rivets.
