Kind of Off Topic - e36 M42 Knock sensor location

I know E30 M42s dont have them. I have never looked closely at a e36 M42 and its been too long since I looked at a e36 M44. Heck Ive never had to look for knock sensor on any car. Someone please enlighten me as to where this thing is located.

Ok found them - at lunch I refered to my E36 3 Series and Z3 Bently Manuals.

On a late M42 and M44 the knock sensors are located just below the intake manifold on the side of the engine block. 2 sensors - one measuring cylinders 1,2 and the other 2,4.

i think this may have been discussed on e3s but....what's the reason why u can't just take those e36 m42 knock sensors (and the e36 ecu) and put those on an e30 m42, then slap on the DASC?
or what about bolting on the DASC to the e30 m42, and using a standalone fuel & ignition setup?
