    Suspension Refresh/Upgrade

I have a 1992 325i Convertible... I just finished pulling the trigger on parts to upgrade my suspension, my car is super bouncy up front, bottoms out, I hear pops that make it seem like something is about to break and leave me stranded. I bought it with bad suspension because I figured I wanted to have all new anyway, I want my car to feel stock, albeit low, and new.

I bought the parts individually because I noticed FCP didnt really discount for the sets, just put them together for you and because I wanted all Lemforder basically

    Here is what I ordered:

    Item Price Qty. Total
    BMW BR Series Coilover Kit (E30) - BC Racing I-07BR $995.00 1 $995.00
    BMW 2-Piece Control Arm Kit (E30) - Lemforder E302PIECE-L $140.99 1 $140.99
    BMW Tie Rod Assembly (E30) - Lemforder 32111126360 $39.49 2 $78.98
    BMW Sway Bar Link Front (E30 E36) - Lemforder (OEM) 31351091764 $17.89 2 $35.78
    BMW Swaybar Link Rear - Lemforder 33551126932 $7.89 2 $15.78
    BMW Control Arm Bracket (E36 E30 Z3) - Febi 31121139789 $22.29 1 $22.29
    BMW Control Arm Bracket (E36 E30 Z3) - Febi 31121139790 $22.69 1 $22.69
    BMW Subframe Mount - Lemforder 33311130537 $20.29 2 $40.58
    BMW Differential Mount - OEM Rein 33171128586 $17.09 1 $17.09
    BMW Tie Rod Lock Plate (E30) - Genuine BMW 32111124540 $1.49 2 $2.98
    BMW Control Arm Bushing Kit (E30 M3 Offset) - Lemforder 31129061222 $35.19 1 $35.19
    BMW Trailing Arm Bushing Set - Lemforder (OEM) 33329061945 $15.99 1 $15.99

I got this stuff from FCP Euro with $100 off it was $1333, pretty good I suppose considering the coilovers.

What else do I need? I have a Sparco strut tower brace I bought locally but do I need any rear sway bars or is this it.

Rear sway bars help, you've got a pretty good list there.

If I were you and spending the cash to redo it all, why the eff not spend another $100 on the rear strut bar? It does help.

Get the Garagistic one. ($80 plus $15 to get it painted nice)

I'd also consider doing the motor mounts, tranny mounts and guibo too as it's probably as old and worn out as the rest of your suspension.

Help with what? If you mean it "helps induce oversteer, which exponentially increases the chances of crashing" then yes, it helps.

      This is money better spent.

The rear strut brace does nothing.... this is coming from the guy who originally made them (and who Garagetastic and the other kid here on r3v knocked off).

Unless your goal is to lose rear traction for those mad-tyte-drifts-yo, do not just go with a larger rear bar. A GOOD swaybar set (Ireland Engineering) is arguably the best single upgrade you can do to your suspension, once all the stock rubber bits has been replaced.

Depending on how stiff the springs on those coilovers are, stock swaybars may be perfectly adequate. Mine are.

I have looked into that as far as Swaybars, however have not considered it because I figure its more for performance enthusiasts. My car will most likely be low and slow on 17" rims. Is the install very involved or can it be fitted easily after all this is done?

Last thing I need to know is how much negative camber may I end up with in the rear with 17" Style 5's ET20 Redrilled. I am wondering because I'm thinking I may have to get the adjustable tabs welded in or return the subframe bushings and get 12mm riser bushings from Condor. I dont mind replacing tires every couple of years and figure it may look good with some neg camber but is it going to be enough to warrant the extra expense on these parts.
