    I wonder why no Chinese company makes oil pans for bmw

    My day job at a import shop, I sell VW oil pans damn near weekly, and they are super cheap, like $60.
    But looking though my suppliers, none sell aftermarket oil pans for BMWs (at least that I have found)
    I feel there is a market out there for them, a e34 m50 oil pan would probably sell quite well.
    Any of you guys ever find an aftermarket oil pan?

    Paul Poore makes one for the M20, but it's targeted at Spec E30 guys. And they ain't cheap.

    Looks like VAC worked with Moroso to have some custom pans done for the S14, and I thought they also had some done for a few 24v motors. But again, not cheap.

    There's some good arguments as to why it hasn't been very successful in the past.

      MTC made and M20 pan, this was a year or two back. The casting was so bad that most people took them off the market.

      .... and economies of scale apply here. The bug market is a tad bigger.

            If the stancekids keep smashing oil pans at the current rate we're going to be wishing there were pot metal pans out there for them to use instead of busting up OEM stuff.

              There is no upside to crap parts suppliers. Just take a look at the British parts market these days and you'll understand; you can't find good stuff anymore because the crap took over.

                Im surprised you dont see "high capacity" or oil pans designed to stop the oil from slushing around too much. there are quite a few of these in the nissan aftermarket world (sr20det etc)

                I wonder if you could make an m20 oil pan that wasn't as deep, but was wider (assuming it fits), and a new oil pickup tube was supplied to suit.

                  It's easy to modify an M20 pan for more volume. Take some measurements and bring it to a welder. Pickup can stay in the same place.
                  Drive it hard. Maintain it well.
