    m42 into an 85 318i

OK, it's a repost, and sure, it probably belongs in another section, but I need this thread to get some exposure! I just bought a 91 318is parts car, what do I need to do to put the motor and trans in my 318i? Anyone here (or anywhere) done this swap? My main concern is the electrical part. Any knowledge helps! Thanks,
    Jim

In <85 cars, the main connector between the chassis power distribution box and the engine is called C101. It should be a 19 pin rectangular plug. Later models, like your M42 318is parts car, have a round C101 connector with 20 pins. Anyway, wiring up your swap shouldn't really pose too much of a problem.

      Check out this thread:

mcgrath posted up the C101 diagrams. Disregard his post about the diagnostic plug.

      Good luck man!

        My '87 Chromie has a M42...

Eko (UK) fitted it in mine for me, everything fitted just fine

C101 fitted together and runs Ok...

          My M10 had a 'round' C101 plug??

Im guessing as said above this is due to it being a 85>
