Hi Guys!
My name is Alex and I joined r3v back in 2003. I have had many e30s over the years. It's been a while since my last one, and I am finally back! My past e30s were: '90 325is, '89 325i (auto), '88 325ic, '90 325i (auto), and my old favorite my 1988 Hennarot M3. I bought it for $9,000 back in 2004, when the "$15,000 Rule" was a thing. A pristine e30 m3 was supposedly to go for 15k at that time. I was shocked when I recently started looking into e30s again to see the prices on e30 m3s, and e30s in general these days. I guess everyone has figured out how great these cars are!
Yesterday, I picked up my new project car, a 1989 325i 5spd. It's unfortunately Bronzit, but it's growing on me...
I got it for $2250, and of course it needs some work, but I think I paid what it is worth. It is completely stock, drives fine, but needs a complete suspension overhaul, and a new steering rack. The head gasket is supposedly leaking a bit of oil, however the oil isn't milky. A friend of mine mentioned that the bitch tube leaking can often be mistaken for a head gasket leak, I'm hoping this is the case, I need to research this more.
I also found a couple little spots of rust that I will need to take care of, over all I am super excited to have an e30 again! I am looking forward to wrenching on this thing, it will be a work in progress for years with the amount of plans I have for it. My daily driver is a 2015 Mini Cooper S Paceman ALL4, which is super fun, but is no e30!
Here is a quick shot of the e30, I'll see you all around the forums!
