Is it possible to separate the lens from an early tail?

I have a perfect lens on an early tail, but the chrome inside has corroded badly. It it possible to separate them? If so, any tips?

    reflector badness

These lenses are not made to come apart; the silvering is a coating, not chrome plating, more of a silver paint.

Before you toss it, try giving it a good hot bath with soapy water, like a dish soap. You put a smallish rag inside the reflector through the bulb opening, then fill with hot soapy water and swish it around, and use your finger to gently rub the dish with the rag. This may turn out to be dirt and crap like exhaust buildup and such. The bath may clean it all up and you've saved a lens.

    Good luck.

Poo I was wondering the same.. PO sprayed the tails flat black and some got under the edge of the lens now it looks gross after I removed all the paint from the outside surface
