So things have changed slightly and im sticking with my 240 gearbox for now.

        I have his flywheel http://racehead.com.au/products-page...0-m52-m42-m44/

Im getting the M20 clutch kit but need to make sure i have the right TO bearing and pilot bearing. From what I have gathered I need the Euro 323i throwout bearing https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...g/21511204525/ and the M50/M42 pilot bearing https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...g/11211720310/ Am i right on this? I just dont want to order the wrong part and theres lots of different info out there

        Thanks
        Blake

Not sure on what to match with what unfortunately.
As a sidenote, dont order from ECS, their prices are never that great with shipping to AUS. I use schmiedmann (use DKK currency to save a couple $$) and FCPeuro for pretty much everything.

Just as food for thought too, I ended up using G240 with my swap, everything stock M20 325i Clutch, Pressure Plate and throw out bearing (no euro 323i or w/e) and it works fine. Albeit the pedal is a touch higher than I am used to, but it hasn't presented me with any issues so far. I also used the RHD Flywheel with manual M40 flywheel bolts.

Thanks i did find ECS shipping prices to be rather high but they just seemed to have everything. I'll check the others out.

What pilot bearing did you use? I'll run with the stock everything and see how i go. I just dont want to get it all in there and the have to pull it out because i used the wrong part....

Ive got a limited usage of a mates garage to do the swap so im really making sure i have all the correct parts before i start. Ive got the garage for about 10 weeks with some very handy experience mates so i hopefully it all goes in easily

Hey So im getting ready to put my engine in and am just getting fimilar with everything so i can hopefully get the engine in without too many hassles. I've taken some photos of a few hoses and cables on the M50 that I want to confirm what they are. I've looked at the service manual i have but its really hard to see exactly what they are

What goes onto this part of the inlet manifold

Ive got 3 x electrical cables on the passenger side of the car. Do these go to the fuse box?

Whats this plug for? It is cable tied up with the oxygen sensor....

Im assuming this big hose is for the heater? would this be a return, supply or something else? It goes up to a 'junction'

This outlet is back of head. This is another heater part. Is this return or supply?

This big hose is another heater hose? This one goes to the same 'junction' as above. And does the little vaccum hose go onto the round (not sure what its called) part 2 photos up that has the plug and a small 'nipple' on it? sorry thats so vague but hopefully someone understands what i mean...

I feel i am wrong about the heater hoses because i thought there would only be 2 not 3.....

                Thanks
                Blake

                  1. Nipple goes to brake booster
                  2. Red goes to starter motor
                  3. Not sure, I didn't have that one
4&5 Is the spider hose. The end that points towards the strut tower goes to the overflow bottle. The end that points to the firewall goes to the top heater core pipe on the firewall. The port on the back of the head goes to the bottom heater core pipe on the firewall

hey so i mounted the g260 to the engine today and i cant fit the 3 small bolts on the bottom of the gearbox. Is this normal? Ive read conflicting information...

This gearbox seems more effort than its worth but ive already replaced all the seals and modified the shifter stuff so i feel like i need to persist with it. Trying to find a driveshaft with a large guibo is proving harder than i thought it would but anyway the joys of engine swaps i suppose

                    Thanks

Not all bolts will line up. The three small ones will not line up. This is normal.

                          Ok maybe one question..

Im nearing the moment of awesomeness where i'm going to try cranking the engine... What are the things I should keep in mind, listen for, etc. etc. when cranking and then later on starting the car? Is there any step by step on the correct way of getting this thing going?

Ive got myself an oil pressure gauge so i'll make sure im getting some sort of oil pressure while cranking (with no fuel pump fuse)

I just want to make sure when i start his i do it right

                          Thanks

I just left the fuel pump fuse out, then cranked to get oil pressure.

Then put the fuel pump fuse back in, let it prime and started cranking

Ba114, how did you have to crank it before you had oil pressure? I just have the oil light, am thinking about putting in a gauge. Thanks

Only a few cranks are needed, don't go overboard
