Wow.... not sure we all go through that with our e30s, but you have to start somewhere! Get a manual ASAP (as mentioned, if your Google ninja force is strong you can probably 'find' one for free), otherwise in your next episode head down to your local motoring bookshop to get a Bentley manual.

As for the gloves... have to admit after 25 years of getting covered in sump oil and other fluids when working on cars, I've started to think about cancer and use gloves all the time now. The damage is probably already done for me in the long term, but if you can wear gloves from the start, it's probably a good idea unless you like getting covered in toxic carcinogens.

              New episode out now!

What's up guys, episode 2 is out now!

I was able to get some coolant hoses and my coolant return pipe refreshed. Along with the minor install, I also go a little more in depth with what the documentary series itself is about.

Subscribe and stay tuned for more episodes, cheers!

I don't know if I misunderstood what you said in the video about coolant/antifreeze, I hope I did...

                but

Antifreeze isn't just for people who live in cold climate areas and coolant isn't just for people who live in hotter climate areas. They're the same thing

Dude, this one time I accidentally added coolant to my Ford Focus and totally seized the engine!
Not a good move when ya live in Canaduh!

                  true story

If it's got tits or tires, it's gonna cost ya!

so what did you end up putting in it? lol

edit; cannot tell if that's a joke or not.

I always understood that 50/50 was antifreeze/coolant then theres other fluids that are more antifreeze oriented for colder climates while the others are more coolant oriented to keep cars that are running in the heat/sometimes with bad thermostats (luckily mine is fine) colder and then you add water to mix so you don't run 100% concentrated fluid within the radiator, hoses, etc. lmk what you thought I don't mind learning or admitting mistakes.

All right my man, here we go.

Antifreeze and coolant are the same thing, essentially. The 50/50 mix is referring to an antifreeze and water mix actually, and depending on where you live that's what dictates if you need a higher concentration of antifreeze, which uses ethylene glycol. Ethylene glycol (or some other alcohol) is what mixes with the water to increase its boiling point and decrease its freezing point. With a 60/40 mix (coolant/water) you're increasing the waters boiling point from 212 to around 360 f and decreasing the freezing point from 32 to -45 f.

edit; one more thing to know.

The heat capacity of ethylene glycol is less than water (so it takes less energy to raise the temp of ethylene glycol) So you'd only want to use a higher concentration if you're living somewhere where it gets extremely cold. A higher concentration in hotter temps will actually run hotter. Water's heat capacity is greater than ethylene glycol, so pure water will work better to cool you're engine. It will absorb heat much faster.

Now you can school other people.

I tried to make that as short and informative as possible, but I'm pretty stoned, so forgive me if that makes no sense.

I hope you know that coolant and antifreeze are the same thing. One is not made for hot weather and one for cold.
