E34 needs a cd player. CD53?
My dad just picked up a 95 525i wagon, black on tan, that had been sitting in my warehouse for a few years. So clean, 89k miles.
He needs a cd player for it but doesn't want a changer in the trunk. Is the CD53 the popular e46 cd player? Is there a harness adaptor to run it in an e34? Or would I have to track down (if it's even compatible) a stereo harness from an e46 and cut it up? Any wiring diagram available? Thanks in advance, sorry for a possibly dumb answer. Don't know much about stereos |

Ah, yes that's the one.
damn, those things are like $275 on ebay. I have 30 cars at my shop in various stages of part-out but no cd43 or cd53's around. Would the CD53 work? Any other BMW CD players that are compatible? |

I only paid $160 for my cd43, looks and works perfect. They are out there all day long for under $200, Rover versions on the cheap end, BMW versions on the high end. The units are functionally identical. |

Is a CD player a necessity? How about C43 or C33 with a Blitzsafe or similar iPod adapter?

I put a CD43 in my e34 and it skips all the time. Looks nice though.

he's a musician, they all still burn cd's for eachother so he has to have a cd player in his car. I have a few e36 cd changers around here, unsure of compatibility |

Andre, saw this and thought of your pops. I'd already have bought it for my e28 daily if it had some sort of input.

Andre, get something with bluetooth and CD, such as the Pioneer DEH64. With the adapters, it is plug and play...except for the mic cable.
He can switch to using a thumb drive for music, (no skipping here, huh?) and can use the stereo to make calls while driving, the E34 is quiet enough

He would prefer factory over aftermarket. He plays music and the bar districts often experience break-ins for aftermarket headunits. He's already on his second one, first one got stolen during a bluegrass gig

Any less expensive in-dash options? other BMW cd players that are compatible? again, have to avoid aftermarket. He doesn't like replacing his windows when people break into his car.

very good. You found the mounting points in the left cubby on the touring on the inner wall, right? check realoem, tourings may have had completely different bracketry.
