    What's required to bolt in a m20 into a 318is(M42) ????

Not worried about electrical or stuff like that right now - just what does it take to get the motor in there.OK?

So don't have to replace the front subframe right? On all e30 they are the same?

Do you need m20 motor "brackets" that bolt to the block? Or are the m42 brackets the same?

    Thanks!

the front subframes are identical, the motor mount brackets should come with your m20--they are very different from the m42 mounts.
for wiring-as long as you get an m20 from 90-92, there is no wiring to do. Plug the new harness into the old.
Remember that you need the radiator and p/s pump, alternator, A/C pump, etc
and i've gotten this question before, yes, the transmissions are different from m20-m42
