    M20 turbo exhaust, side exit?

    Hello r3v,

I am currently wrapping up my engine, and hopefully dropping in sometime soon. I am also ordering parts, and am gonna be fabbing the downpipe very soon. I have some mandrel bend 90* and such, and some 3'' flex pipe.

I have a dynomax muffler aswell on it, and am running a little short on exhaust piping. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on a side exit, I am looking to do something different and run it out the pass side. I want something that isnt too loud or too annoying to fab up.

I wont be slammed, I am just on springs and not going to go lower really, so clearance isn't the biggest issue but def should be something considered. Mostly concerned about whethor or not I should weld in a resonator because I do a lot of highway driving and do not want my ears to bleed.

I'm not opposed to the idea but there is just nowhere to tuck a side pipe. It's going to scrape a LOT.

I was thinking right before the pass rear wheel. That way if it is super loud at least it won't be on my side.

I'm for once praying I have rust in that area to give me the excuse to cut it out and fab up this side exit. I just think it would look better then an "assless" back end with a 3 inch tip and muffler just hanging there.

Pretty sure it's going to be loud regardless lol.
Why not do a rear side exit, that way you can at least add a muffler?

My favorite setup is right through the hood like Carlos' race car (wouldn't recommend for street haha) -

ocgrinder has an electric bypass to oval mandrel tubing that cuts out to the side. Pretty bad ass setup

                          Pics do not work.

I have a floor pan that I patched, but am going to redo. Then I got the brilliant idea to encorporate a possible side exit while I am already welding there.. We will see how it works. I am a bodywork beginner so it wont be anything like that above but should atleast be functionable.
