    Issues with Gauges not working

OK, so I find this kind of odd.

All of my gauges quit working, except the speedo/odo.

When I turn the key on, they will sometimes work for a few seconds, then quit.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    Luke

Have you checked or recently replaced the cluster batteries?

No, and I have had issues with them in the past...but they never affected the fuel/temp before...

If I recall correctly, the batteries will affect everything but the speedo and tach.

        Good luck with her...

"She" gets a BFH in the gauge cluster if things don't get better!

That is one of the possible manifestiations of bad SI batteries or a bad SI board.

But there are other possibilities It is possible that the temp gauge isn't working because of bad connections at the main PCB in the cluster, or because the gauge is bad, the sensor has failed, or there's a wiring fault. The tach failure could be within the tach or it could be a problem in the DME.

The place to start is with the SI board and if that doesn't fix the problem more diagnostic work will be needed.
The car makes it possible, but the driver makes it happen.

OK, so I metered the SI batteries...3.1VDC.

The board has obviously been replaced by the PO.

Joe Funk had a spare cluster, so I am going to try that, then see if I can figure out what actually happened.

There is a fuse for the gauges. Is it #7?

Don't know why it does it I tried to figure it out but I couldn't. When my tack of temp goes out all I do it tap on it or knock on it like it's a front door and they come back. Sounds weird but try it I bet it will do the same for you I have a buddy with a 94 325is and his does the same thing.

OK, so new cluster does EXACTLY the same thing.

                      No Tach
                      No Fuel
                      No Temp

                      Yet the speedo still works.

I don't wanna whack my dash, I want my shit to work.

Anyone know where the wiring diagram is? I really really NEED to buy a Bentley!

                      Thanks, guys.

                              Glad I could help, buddy!

Maybe it was not fuse #7, but your problem was obviously related to a blown fuse.
