    First E30 - '91 Calypso Vert - Raleigh, NC

Hey guys - I've been a member of the board here for nearly 4 years and finally took the plunge a couple of weeks ago.

Purchased a '91 5 speed 325 convertible from forum member evandael up in Pittsburgh:

Buying from another member was a great experience, Eric spent time washing the car and going over all the little tips and tricks - it was clear he valued the car.

If I had to do it again though, I'd try to avoid driving through snow and rain on the way back!

A couple days later, on my way to work - something caught my eye:

This is a '91 calypso vert, 5 speed, 318i that had been parked inside a chainlink fence for nearly a year - torn top, motor is pulled apart and some pieces are in the trunk - but I got it for a steal.

How crazy is that - I bought two e30 convertibles, both calypso, both 5 speeds, both '91s within 6 days of one another! My wife wasn't happy, but she'll get over it.

Not sure exactly what I want to do with it yet - maybe swap the bumpers and trunk lid to my 325 to fix up some cosmetic issues. Then possibly part it out.

Just getting started - I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions.

Got around to washing off all the salt and grim this past weekend:

Hello from Raleigh! 4 years on r3v without an e30 of your own? Wow, that's some waiting. Nice looking cabrios you got there. If you have had E30 on the brain then im sure you are aware of the north Carolina E30 FB page, right? Or our website. Not sure where in Raleigh you are but hope we cross paths some time.

Beautiful car. I've never seen a Calypso convertible before.

If you decide to part the other car, please let me know. I am another Calypso owner as well.

I nearly bought one 3 years ago, but life got in the way. I'm out in Holly Springs - I'll check out the NC e30 page, thanks for the heads-up!
