There is a lot of conflicting information about what is/isn't the right gear set if looking for other ratios for your 188k center.
I've got an LS swapped E46 and I would really like to put a 3.73 or 3.91 into it, but higher ratios don't seem to exist for 188k diffs unless you go with motorsport ($$$$) items.
Early E53's seem like a source for 3.46's and maybe 3.64's. E39's aren't much luck, but things like E90's, E60's and Z4's are showing up as 188k's in parts catalogues, but also showing up as 188L's? any ideas? is it just the earlier M54 powered cars that still had the kompakt differentials?

LS + 188k = explode. time for you to install a 210mm unit from e46 M3
Kompact 188k for e46 is interchange with e39 and z4; e92 went to a flangeless style input from driveshaft to diff
