    87 325e -> m50 flywheel question

    Can I use my 87 325e duel mass flywheel in my m50 swap?

    I'm trying to install the trans everything seems to be lined up yet the trans still needs to go in
    another half inch to meet the engine.

    Any ideas?
    Is it the large 325e duel mass flywheel holding me back?

    Trans is the getrag 260
    Clutch, pressure plate and flywheel all early model 325e

      Is the pilot bearing in the crank not allowing it to slide in all the way?

      Another thing to be aware of is that the regular M20 flywheel needs to be shaved or it will hit the 24V oil pan. I'm assuming that this is no different. Have you addressed that?

        On my 87 325e (86 production date) the 30lb duel mass flywheel tob and pilot bearing from the e did not clear to bolt up on the m50b25 vanos at least with my getrag 260.

        Ended up using an 8lb single mass aluminum flywheel with the 325i pilot and throw out bearing. Bolted right up no problem.

        Engine runs like a champ now and zings through the revs!

        And as far as clearing the oil pan I didnt have to shave anything off of it, it clears fine no modification
