M62TUB44 to 318is wiring help request.

So my 318is I picked up came with a bad cylinder in the M42. I bought an M52tub28 but ended up getting a 99 M3 with low miles. So swapped in the S52 and got a chance to hear it crank but never actually got it running. I kinda rushed the swap too so I wasn't too excited about car. Now I have sold all engines and I have an M62b44 from a 97 540i 6spd.

I am trying to figure the wiring but not finding much support.

-Is it really worth it to use the M60B44 harness with the M62B?
    -Anyone has an ETM?
-Who else has done this and how did you go about you wiring?

Looking at the garages tics pin out I'm a bit confused on the terminals and relays location and identification.

Yes I have searched and got much information on my S52 and M52 when I had them but all I'm finding is information on M60 which has me considering going with that harness.

From my little reading on the m6x swaps most people use the m62 block with the m60 heads in our cars.

Basically, since the car you got the motor from is OBDII and likely had EWS, it will be much more difficult to wire than going with an M60 OBDI harness. Not impossible, but much more difficult.

Just find a M60B40 OBDI motor, harness, and DMU. So much easier, and you still get that V8 goodness.

Well I do have access to an M60 with harness and DME however I want to work with what I already have. I've checked that list of ETMs and just like all the others I'm finding there's none specific for the E39 540i. I'd atleast want to scrub the right ETM.

Thanks. There's a bit more to the M60 setup than just the DME and wire loom from what I am reading. It'll be easier and cheaper to buy a harness adapter it seems.
