s50 swap fuel pump question

Not sure on whether it will work or not but has anyone tried an e36 fuel pump on an e30.... my e30 is s50 swapped it came out of a 95 m3 ..... it was running the stock e30 fuel pump which went the other day .... jw if it wouldnt be such a bad idea to go with an e36 fuel pump being that the swap is out of an e36

Yes. I have an e36 pump. Only physical difference with the pump itself is that the carrier in an e36 has a different design so the pump has a ring in its case where it sits. That little ring in no way stops you from using ir in an e30 carrier. Otherwise they are nearly identical.

I ran an e36 pump on stock m20 for a while. Reason was i saw it would work and i got a good used one for 3 bucks from pullapart (told em it was a window washer pump).

Im running a stock 318is fuel pump on my s50. Gets plenty of fuel and haven't had an issue yet. Also have a spare 95 m3 that came with it when the swap was done.
