Headers are a slang term people use for aftermarket exhaust manifolds.
If I get a different intake manifold you would still call it an intake manifold, because that's what it is.
No matter the design of the exhaust manifolds by definition of exhaust manifold thats what they are.

Stop nit picking on the OP. I think it sounds sick.

In automotive engineering, an exhaust manifold collects the exhaust gases from multiple cylinders into one pipe.
But by definition headers are exhaust manifolds.
As far as being cast iron, they are obviously not but that's not what were talking about; exhaust manifolds don't have to be cast iron.

To be more precise, headers are a subset of exhaust manifolds.
            So headers are exhaust manifolds.

This is a pointless discussion going nowhere.
                    I'm done with this thread.

Headers is to exhaust manifolds as individual throttle bodies are to intake?

                        lol

In all seriousness though, this is one of those things where you're kinda wrong but still right. Headers are the slang for aftermarket manifolds where it's meant to bring some sort of tune-ability or performance to the engine. Headers are manifolds. Manifolds are not headers though.

You can say open headers, but in this video, all we see is an open exhaust manifold.
So open headers and exhaust both mean you have no exhaust setup but are still different because saying open headers tells us you have aftermarket headers.

So, hope this helps you understand why you got bashed slightly.

                        Fuck I'm sleep typing again.

                                M50 Open Headers...

And their actually HEADERS. Not exhaust manifolds.

(Dont mind the throttle cable. It was shortly thereafter replaced with an E34 one)

                                Unbearably, unthinkably too loud.
