A/C from 89 to 84. Will it work?

So it's starting to heat up here in the bay area and i'm tryin to straighten out my a/c problem before it gets triple digits here (if it even does) but anyways, i bought an 89 325i vert awhile back for parts and i have an 84 eta. Here's what i found out about my eta's a/c system:

    1. No a/c belt when i got the car
    2. A/c switch turns on
    3. # 20 fuse is good

I bought a belt but have not installed it. The 89 vert's a/c system looks like it was converted to r-134a but i'm not certain, it just seems that way because of the red high port and blue low port. Can i rip the a/c system on the vert and slap it on the eta? Or should i see if the eta's system is still salvageable?

Dealing with same issue, heater box wiring will need to be modified to work in ETA. I am still researching what needs to be changed

Put a gauge to the system to see if it has any static pressure, meaning with the car off. In an ideal world it will read ambient temp. Below 25lbs and the low pressure switch will prevent the compressor from engaging. 134 is cheap. If there's pressure in the system try topping it up. If there's no pressure you need to pull a vac find any leaks, then replace the dryer and recharge.

No belt usually means dead system and even if it holds pressure there are a range of possible diagnosis.
